In this dance performance, the inclusive team confronts various questions about sexual identity and conservative social conditioning. In a kaleidoscope of impressive dance scenes, we follow you on your search for personal answers in partly fantastic and surreal fantasy worlds.
What enriches a society more than diversity? The history of minorities has always consisted of silences, of outlines that do not represent figures, and of lines that intersect without representing a defined landscape.
In “ANATOMY OF DIVERSITY”, the performers attempt to draw some of these lines again and again in order to emphasize certain landscapes. The performance critiques the biopolitics of gender and the dancers create a cartography of resistance against the gendering of the body and desire. But they also create a map of surfaces for the projection of subjectivities that go beyond gender. In the performance, dolls are chosen as projection surfaces, as blank neutral sheets of paper, as a sketchpad for individual designs, they serve to describe and manifest them.
In this way, these people encourage themselves to discover themselves, to perceive themselves, to express themselves and to allow themselves to be themselves. To exist. Being a real, non-fictional existence. To desire and to love without fixed patterns. These figures empower themselves to be recognized and accepted.
Being an individual and wanting to belong at the same time is a tough battle, a superhuman challenge for some people and sometimes impossible for others. In diversity, every body is important, every person is important, every difference is enriching. Every manifestation of desire is a breath of life: “The body” inspires and brings forth new behaviors. “Desire” inspires and materializes different types of relationships. Diversity means that all bodies and all people are relevant, regardless of their form or being. “The gaze lies in freedom, self-awareness and respect” in order to make it the site of a political and aesthetic claim.
